After 10 strong years as the best-selling midsized pickup truck on the market, the Toyota Tacoma has been given a modern makeover, and the results are stunning. In the past, the Toyota Tacoma has been lauded for its long-lasting lifespan on the road, extraordinary capability and off-road acumen. The newest iteration of this brawny workhorse promises to maintain those winning traits, but also adds cutting-edge technology, contemporary amenities and a brand-new powertrain to the mix. The result is nothing less than perfection.
The new 2016 Toyota Tacoma will be available in both access and crew cab body styles, and will have five different trim options. Crafted from sheet metal and strengthened with a high grade of steel that's incorporated through a unique stamping process to reduce weight, the Tacoma will be stylish, safe and efficient. Its standard powertrain is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, and can be mated with either a five-speed manual transmission or the available six-speed automatic. Higher trims will include the much-anticipated 3.5-liter V6 direct-injection powerplant with an Atkinson power cycle that optimizes efficiency.
Inside the cabin, drivers will find the 2016 Tacoma updated with a new center stack, which in some trims features a touchscreen display with entertainment, navigation and smartphone integration. Perhaps the most modern amenity available in this innovative pickup, though, is the standard GoPro mount, ready to capture any and all action or adventures on the open road. Additionally, you'll find a plethora of boons available across the various trims, from the Qi wireless charging pad to the Smart Key System with push-button start to a moonroof and even a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert.
While the new 2016 Tacoma won't be released until later this year, we're keeping our ears open for all information regarding the most modern version of one of our favorite pickups. Stay tuned to our Toyota dealership serving Dover, DE, to learn more as information becomes available.
