| Overview The 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser is one of the most capable off-road SUVs in the Toyota line-up, features several upgrades, including dual VVT-i and roller rocker arms on the 4.0-liter V6, which add 19 horsepower and a one mpg increase. Minor suspension changes reduce the turning radius by more than a foot, and a new Army Green exterior color is offered. A unique new trail-oriented Special Edition Package has also been added. Power and performance A DOHC 4.0-liter V6 engine, newly equipped for 2010 with a new dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) system (variable phasing for both the intake and exhaust cams) and new roller rockers motivates the 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser. These changes increase the horsepower to 258, up from 239 and the peak torque is 270 lb ft. The EPA estimated combined fuel economy rating is now 18 mpg, up by 1 mpg. Body and styling The front styling, white roof and wrap around rear-quarter windows of the 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser remind of the original FJ40. Three windshield wipers, rear-hinged access doors that facilitate backseat entry, rear swing gate with spare tire, and 17-inch steel wheels, with 17-inch alloy wheels as optional, are some of the exterior features. A long list of features including skid plates for the engine, transfer case and fuel-tank; air conditioning; power windows and door locks; black water-resistant seats; tilt steering wheel; four cup holders and two bottle holders; rear-window defogger; rear-door-mounted full-size spare tire; front, rear tow hooks, and mudguards are standard.
Three audio systems are available. An AM/FM/CD system with six speakers is standard. A pair of NXT SurfaceSound transducers convert the vehicle's ceiling into a speaker diaphragm (the FJ Cruiser was the first vehicle to use this audio technology). The ceiling transducers complement the conventional speakers elsewhere in the vehicle, creating broad, omni-directional sound dispersion.
Safety Features The 2010 Toyota FJ incorporates Toyota's STAR Safety System that includes vehicle stability control, traction control, and ABS with EBD, and brake assist among other standard safety equipments. Dual-stage front airbags, side-curtain airbags, and front-seat side airbags are also standard. |
